Get “Hands-on” with heritage crafts at Gayle Mill !

At Gayle Mill we are passionate about preserving the unique and traditional skills of craftspeople in the Dales and surrounding area.  Throughout the year we provide a range of hands on workshops inspired by the rich history of the Mill. Workshops are led by skilled tutors and include subjects such as: Experience Days / Weekends, Spinning, Felt making, Book Binding, Gate Making.

Experience Weekend - The Victorian Saw Mill
Provisional dates Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 October 2012 - 9am to 5pm - £250 per person (including light lunch)
Learn to use Gayle Mill’s historic water powered Victorian woodworking machines to create your own wood products. During the day you will get the chance to use our 1879 machinery including a saw bench, a planer-thicknesser, a band-saw and two lathes, all belt driven by our Williamson turbine.  This is a truly unique and memorable experience.  The products you make will be yours to take home with you.  An Experience Weekend makes the ideal gift, whether for an experience woodworker, or a newcomer looking for ideas and guidance on how to get started.
